Is the Amsterdam Light Festival free?

Answer: Yes. The light artworks of the festival are spread throughout the city in public spaces and can be viewed for free. However, the main attraction of the festival is to see the installations from the special festival cruises, which offer the ultimate route that passes by all the main artworks. These cruises are paid and cost about €27 per person, and can be booked through this website. 

If you prefer to see the light artworks on foot, you can download for free the official festival app (available for Apple devices here and for Android devices here), which provides detailed information about the festival. You can also purchase the festival’s route map, which costs about €8 per person and shows a dedicated walking route with detailed explanations of all the installations.
