The Prinsengracht (Prince’s Canal) is one of the four main canals of Amsterdam’s canal belt and is considered one of the symbols of the Dutch Golden Age. All of Amsterdam’s canal cruises pass through this canal, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the city.
The name of the canal means “Prince’s Canal,” named after the Prince of Orange. It stretches for 3.2 kilometers and was dug in the mid-16th century. In 2010, the canal was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Along the Prinsengracht you can find some of Amsterdam’s most famous landmarks, such as the Anne Frank House, the Westerkerk tower, and the Palace of Justice. It is a highly touristic area that attracts visitors from all over the world. We highly recommend exploring it both on a canal cruise and on a walking tour.
